The Future of Member Events and Fundraising

Former Member
Former Member $organization

As uncertain as it may be, I'm trying to look past this current moment and help shape the direction my institution moves in this new reality. So many of our organizations are immediately focused on stewarding donors, creating last-minute appeals, communicating work stoppage, connecting patrons to our social channels, etc. This is necessary work, but only a stop gap.

I'm concerned about how social distancing, temperature scans and mandated masks/gloves might impact our donor experience and member lounge during performances. If member entitlements (concessions, bar, valet,  etc) are not permitted to operate in our buildings --even temporarily-- and we are unable to host/cautious about donor reception events, how might our members program look? Has anyone pivoted their message from benefits-focus to philanthropy mid-season? I think our members will be understanding, all things considered, but I'd love to hear about how you communicated the change and value-added benefit ideas that could replace the tangible ones.
