On Account Donations vs. Direct to Fund

Our online donations are placed into on-account and then later processed by development, which is a tiny dept of 1 FT and 2 PT. We are thinking of switching to direct to fund since the on-account processing is too time consuming for these types of gifts.

Does anyone have experience switching from one set up to the other and could you offer advice on how to make that transition? Also, if you have strong feelings about one or the other and why it's better, I would love to hear it.

  • Hi Kimberly,

We use both on-account and direct processing for online gifts. I use the LTR_TNEW_CONTRIB_TYPE system table to set up the on-account vs. direct fund processing for each Contribution Type. I agree that it is too time-consuming for our gift processor to do all the online gifts, so the only ones he has to process are sustaining/payment plan gifts or gifts designated to select funds. Happy to answer any other questions.
