1 large gift-over 200 soft credits

Hi there.

I'm Brian and I work at The Fulton Theatre.  The city of Lancaster, PA does an Annual Community Appeal called "Extraordinary Give".  It is hosted by the Lancaster County Communty Foundation (LCCF).  We usually raise over $40K for this 24 hour fundraiser.  We receive the money a few months later.

In the past - our organization would create a pledge for each donor (over 200) and then pay by ACH payment in January when the money is sent to us from the Foundation.

What we'd like to start doing is the following:

Create one pledge for the LCCF in the amount of money raised and give a soft credit to each individual in the $ amount they donated.  Is this even possible?  Every time I attempt to add more than one soft credit in a contribution I get an error message.  Is this because the Fund/Campaign has memberships attached to it?

How can I process this as one transaction but soft credit over 200 donors?

Thank you.  I'm more than willing to have a phone conversation, which may be far more helpful than email.

Brian

  • What you're describing is possible and was done for certain efforts here at the Symphony in the distant past.

Membership is part of what is causing your error message; the other part is that the creditee type you are using is allowed to affect that membership—if you use a creditee type that doesn't have the potential to transfer membership you will be allowed to create the credit. (I think the only thing you need to check is credit_membership_ind in TR_CREDITEE_TYPE.)

This is Tessitura saying that one pledge creates one membership—and only one constituent gets to be a member. So either your 200+ donors get no memberships (which might be what you intend!) or you have to create them one-by-one manually unconnected to their pledges in History -> Memberships.
