Hello!
I regularly pull fund activity reports and revenues by source and appeal to check the progress of our appeals. When I pull a fund activity by our individual campaign and a revenue by source and appeal by the same campaign with no appeals specified, I should (I assume) get the same number. But for some reason, my revenue by source and appeal is showing a slightly larger amount than my fund activity. Does anybody have any ideas why this could be?
Thanks!Nik
Hi Nik,
Revenue by Source and Appeal is used to track revenue raised in response to appeals, whereas Fund Activity us used to report on where money is going. It is possible to assign a source number from an appeal to a gift, and then assign the gift to a completely different campaign. This always happens to us a few times during our year end appeal, where someone gets one of our appeal letters but instead of giving to the individual fund they respond by renewing their membership (which is a separate program here) so the source number on the gift is from the year end appeal letter appeal which is associated with the individual campaign, but the gift itself is assigned to the membership campaign. Thus, revenue by source and appeal would show us that the $200 was raised by the year end appeal, but fund activity using the individual campaign would not include that $200 since that's not where the money went.
Hope this helps!

Thanks this is a really helpful explanation of the revenue trail of appeals, campaigns and sources!
