Hi everyone -
We use a "stock" payment method and custom fields (stock name, # shares, avg price/share, etc.) on the contribution to track gifts of stock but looking for a better solution to easily query on all stock contributions. We are thinking of using channel = stock to do so. Our current challenge is the difficulty in querying stock contributions from basic Tess reports.
I'd love to know how you are managing these. Thank you!
You might think about this -- using the the Fund Activity report as you base create a Payment Method Details Report (the Fund activity already groups by payment). You can then add the option for selecting the payment method and have the constituent detail (ID and Number) be displayed. Since you have added custom fields these can be added too. But all the dates, campaign etc parameters are already there to start with.
I had the Payment Method Details at my previous site and found it wonderul for not just stock gifts.
Hi Susie,
We use channel = stock to help identify stock gifts in addition to the payment types, custom fields, and acknowledgement type. It does make it very easy to pull lists with standard list elements and run reports like the Fund Activity Report. We tend to use output sets when we need a report on stock giving as that allows us to easily export all the custom data. It depends on what we want to see.
The only problem we've had with using channel is if it's not set to "stock" during gift entry. We didn't have a standard on using channel before we started using it for stock, so people sometimes forget to choose the option. That's a small and easily fixable problem though.
