A question for those tracking Planned Giving bequests in Plans...
What do you use for your campaign? We create campaigns to follow our fiscal years. But we are trying to figure out where planned gift plans should live in that scenario as we don't know when we'll actually receive the gift. Do you have a generic campaign for planned giving with no fyear that you use and then move the bequest out once it is confirmed?
Any help would be appreciated.
Hi, we've created Prospect Plans that are dedicated to Planned Giving so that we can pull the data in using Plan Summary reports. We prefer not to make them a pledge as there is so much variability both in date and the amount that will actually come in. Once the gift is received, we enter it into the correct Fiscal Year campaign. I've become a big fan of Prospect Plans lately. :)
We also create campaigns for our fiscal years, but for planned giving we use a campaign that doesn't have a year associated with it. We also have specific planned giving status and type. It's easy to report on and easy for the Philanthropy team to find.
