Soft Credits

I have been helping my development office trying to find a report that will list the year contributions. It has to include soft credits. I found one report but found that not everything showed up - because our CEO does a payroll deduction and it gets processed as a soft credit. Luckily someone caught it but we are all worried that there are other soft credits that aren't showing up. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Sally

  • Hey Sally,

Unfortunately many reports in Tess don't count soft credits.  Current Constituent Giving by List will show you soft credits, but only if your list contains the donors with soft credits.  If you create your list with the contribution criteria, donors with only soft credits won't pull into your list.  Also, that report is limited in that you can't choose an end date.

However, there is a very helpful view that circulates the forums that combines hard and soft credits.  From there, you can create list criteria and output set elements that will allow you to pull out donors' soft credits.  I believe the SQL code for the view and the output set elements is in my old folders, but let me know if not and I can email it to you.

  • Thanks Juliane. I will look. If I can't find it I will send you an email. Sally

    Hey Sally,

The Fund Activity Report (my fav) shows soft credits when you download it to Excel - scroll way to the right and you'll see those columns.  The Campaign Giving Comparison Report also shows soft credits and on the 2nd page of the parameters you can choose which types you want to see.  This report can be a bit tricky but you should play around with it when you have the time.  And then the New Contributions Report also shows soft credits but i find this one works best when you use it with a list of 1 donor (or a small number) as the parameters allow you to choose owner, initiator, or creditee (depending on what version Tess you are on).  When used with a list of 1 donor and Creditee set to Yes, they you'll get all the donor's contributions AND the contributions from other constituents that are soft credited to them.

  • Thank you Mark! I think I have found my new fav also! Sally
