We would like to begin listing our donor in our performance program. Is there a way to pull a report of all donors within a specific time period with a total giving. So far I have only been able to pull a report that will list a separate line for each gift but not a total for the year.
The best report to roll up gifts is the Campaign Comparison Report. Even if you don't care about comparisons, you can just pay attention to the first column totals for each person. Select every Campaign for which you received gifts in your date range, select the date range, then put some other campaign into Group 2 (any campaign!). The Group 1 Amount column will have the cumulative totals for each person.
Even though this is a great place to start I am still in the habit of using Names -> Program Names and manually assigning levels to donors. Listings get changed so much I find it easier to use reports/lists to update my manual program listing vs. trying to squeeze manual changes into a report's listing.

I submitted the idea of "pulling donor listings for playbills/annual reports" as an idea for the conference because it every Tess org I've worked in (there have been four now), I've yet to find a good way to do this without a decent amount of manual work. I'd love a session on how other orgs are doing this and utilizing Tess in a less manual way. Even a panel discussion so more people in the room could contribute their ideas! I believe all three of us (me, Tina and Mike) are on the planning committee so I'm putting a plug in for this to happen!
I'd love to see a panel discussion on this. We too, use the Program Names area and while it's a bit clumsy to manually edit the list in Word, I've come up with a way that works for us at the moment. Feel free to reach out to me, Gina, if you're looking for panel members.
This is a great idea! Our process for our Annual Report is very complicated and manual. I would love to have a better way - but through all my research the only thing I've found is that a custom report may be the answer. And unfortunately, i think there are far too many variables in our process for that.
Our Playbill process is so much easier though there is still a bit of manual work around the soft credits.
