Hello! How does everyone approach processing DAF's in Tessitura? Do you simply place the donation under the donors record or do you place it under the DAF and perhaps credit(soft credit?) the donor? or does anyone use a DAF constituency? And how do you pull lists of people who donate through DAF's?Sorry, a lot of questions I know!
Thanks,
Nik
Hi Nik! We currently process DAF under the donor record and use a contribution custom field to indicate the DAF name. That said, we are considering changing that process. I'd also love to hear what others are doing.

We also put the donation on the donors record and use a contribution field to indicate that it was a DAF.
We process the donation under the DAF and then create a soft credit for the Individual/Household that made the donation.
We process the donation under the DAF and soft credit the donor to avoid sending tax letters, which aren't allowed for DAF gifts. Most DAF gifts also don't allow goods/services in exchange for the donation so read the fine print on each donation letter. This process does end up requiring us to adjust pledges when payments come from the DAF, but in the end it's a cleaner/safer process for us. I've had a Board member request a list of their payments as their DAF required them to show what they'd paid personally versus with DAF money. It was a nightmare in the past when we just put everything under the donor/creditee.
To be fair, creditee reporting is burdensome through List Manager in v12.5.1 unless you know SQL. I believe v14 and 15 now include creditee options as criteria. I'm also happy to share the code I used to create a custom view that calculates who the donation should apply to (donor or creditee).
To piggy-back on Sara's point about letters, we have a separate DAF letter that we assign to the gift that doesn't have tax language in it. Very important step!
We also put everything on the donor's record and soft credit the DAF using a DAF soft credit type. This makes all of our recognition reports slightly easier.
