We sell tickets via TNEW for several fundraising events throughout the year. We control access and track attendance to these events using NSCAN. The majority of the price of these tickets can be considered a charitable donation and should be included on the purchaser’s Annual Giving Statement (which is pulled from Contributions, not Ticketing).
Has anyone found a solution for moving the money received for a ticket from Ticketing to Contributions while retaining ticketing data (date/time of purchase & attendance record)?
We thought about revisiting and editing each order after the event by (1) Returning the ticket; (2) “Reselling” the ticket with an edited price of $0; (3) Applying the payment received as a contribution using the contributions tab in the same ticketing order. However, this deletes our attendance data.
What I did most recently for one of our ticketed fundraisers was set the minimum price of the ticket to $0. I monitored ticket sales regularly and moved the money from paid tickets by changing the ticket price to $0 and putting the balance to an On Account payment method for the Dev team to process as a contribution (though we could likely have processed it as an order contribution instead). I did this before tickets were printed so I'm not sure if it could be done after that or not.
We were able to scan tickets for attendance, but the ticket revenue equals $0 so I'm not sure this meets your requirements. Happy to chat if this isn't clear.
Best of luck,
Sara
Thanks, Sara! Like you said, I'm not sure this will work for us since our tickets "print" automatically when an e-ticket (or, print-at-home ticket) sends at the time of purchase. This is why we are having to return and resell to edit the price to $0.
I just tested this in Test and it looks like you can't adjust the price on a printed ticket. Sorry :-(
