How does your organization accept in-hall donations?

We have used Square with success but when attempting to implement TRBO we have encountered a few issues, so I'm reaching out to see what methods other organizations use to accomplish this task.

  • We have been looking into some options as well, including Clover Go.  We are planning on using our TRBO units at an upcoming event so I would love to hear what your challenges have been!  Also would like to know if anyone has found a way to accept donations for custom amounts, or can you only use the fixed amount buttons on a quick-sale screen?

the two main concerns we have are: 1. if, say, 5 people want to donate at once, it would be efficient to have each of them fill out their own form at the same time so they can all get back to their seats. with TRBO, speed would be limited to the number of employees working and number of tablets that have been setup. and even in the case that we had 3 or 5 employees with tablets, it will definitely take longer to create a new constituent using the TRBO app as opposed to simply having the new person complete a form. perhaps we could use TRBO for existing donors and keep the forms around for new donors. 2. same as your second point - specific amounts are not supported. for this case, we have setup multiple pages with multiple dollar amounts going up by different increments. in the case that a donor wanted to give more than we have prepared for, we would have to switch to using Square. Tessitura support did mention that many organizations use Contribution Import Utility when implementing an external solution such as Square. see attached image for TRBO Sales Layout example.

a drawback of Square is that it does not collect enough information to easily identify a donor in Tess. if we use Square we will also have to get donors to fill out an information sheet even if they already exist in Tess so their donations can be matched to their account.
