Plans -- Using "dummy" Campaigns Not Tied to Specific Fiscal Years/Funds

Hi everybody,

We're working on configuring Tessitura Plans to track our moves management (goodbye Excel!)

The more we discuss internally, the more we realise our goals are not tied to our specific Tessitura Campaign/Fund structure as currently configured.

Because the goal is multi-year gifts with moneys across different Tessitura Campaigns/Funds (Memberships, Major Gifts, etc) all towards a specific recognition programme, we are considering creating a new "dummy" Tessitura Campaign (say, "Donor Recognition") with no fiscal year, no active Fund, and no active Designation. It would just be to house the Plan.

Is there any downside to this that we haven't considered? We realize all the contributions will need to be manually tagged with the Plan, but given the volume that seems manageable workload.

Thanks in advance!

  • Correct, it is NOT tied to a fiscal year. Therefore will not need to be updated in that way to stay active.

These plans however, will have a scheduled review  as to keep them all on track and move plans appropriately.

There are 3  types of campaigns with their own radio buttons on the campaign set-up screen: 1) Campaigns, 2) Elevated Events, and 3) Prospecting. We created the “Donor Prospect” campaign within that type.

So far there have not been configuration issues.

We created a Plan Type of “Donor Prospect.” So the Campaign and Plan Type will need to updated when intensions of the donor are known.

    Thanks,

    Marie

  • Hi Marie,

That makes a lot of sense.

Looking through the "Prospecting" campaigns, if the Plan is associated with that campaign, is it possible to assign that "Plan" to Contributions which have their own Campaign/Funds? (I guess I can just test for myself.)

  • UPDATE: Yes, it allows me to manually assign Contributions to the "Prospecting" Campaign Plan.

Note it took some work as I had an issue where I could not add the Plan to customers through Plan Maintenance because the associated Prospecting Campaign didn't have a Fund or Designation.

After some toying it seemed to work after I added a Fund to the Campaign, saved the Campaign, then removed the Fund. I could now select "(none)" for Fund in Plan Maintenance and proceed.
