Crowd-Raising with Tessitura

The Luther Burbank Center for the Arts was partially damaged in the Sonoma County fires last week.  We would like to give our community the opportunity to provide support for our fire relief, but are hoping to find a simple method similar to GoFundMe.  Has anyone used GoFundMe or other crowdraising platforms?  What do you recommend?  How do (or Do) you integrate with Tessitura?  Our leadership team really wants a process that will be simple for the user, ie not require creating an account or entering credit card info.

Thanks for any input you can provide.

  • Good morning Susanne,

So sorry to hear about the damage from the fires!

I don't have any specific experience using a crowdfunding service and trying to link it back to Tessitura, but as long as you're able to download a .CSV list of the donor information from such a campaign, you should be able to easily import it back into your database using pre-built import utilities.

That being said, I think a bigger question to consider is why you'd want to crowdfund through an outside service instead of fundraising through your own website (especially if you have TNEW). If you could keep everything within your branding (and not have to pay out funds to GoFundMe, etc.) and you're using TNEW, you'd actually be seeing the gifts come directly into your database with new constituents being created as they come to your site.

With regard to the desire not to have to create an account or enter credit card info, I don't think you'll ever be able to escape the latter; I imagine most crowdfunding sites also require entry of credit card information to collect the contributions. When it comes to streamlining account creation, you could use Facebook Login or Guest Checkout through TNEW to shorten the contribution completion path for your visitors. I imagine it would be possible to get it to the point where people using your website or TNEW would have a similar checkout length to an outside crowdfunding service.

I'd love to chat more about this if you have other questions.

    Thank you,

    Brian
