I was wondering if anyone has found a way to get the membership recognition amount to auto-update whenever an additional gift is made towards that active membership? It currently only populates with the first give at the time the membership is created and due to the number of members we have, it's time prohibitive to ask our gift entry staff to manually update this field with every gift. I'd LOVE to hear if anyone has any solutions/suggestions other than manually updating. At the moment the only thought I have is created a back end nightly procedure but that sounds like a lot of work and I want to make sure i'm not missing something else before I look into going that direction.

Based on the documentation, it looks like expected functionality is for Recognition Amount to default to the amount of the first contribution on that membership record. The documentation then goes on to state, "This field can be manually adjusted to the amount for which the member should be recognized. Generally this is only adjusted when the member should be recognized at an amount greater or less than what he or she has actually given."
It sounds like your solution might go in the direction of a custom nightly procedure which would find everyone in your membership groups, sum their giving total to the active membership, and then insert that value in the Recognition Amount field. Otherwise, it looks like you'd be updating the field manually.
