Gift Entry Staff

A quick poll: How many people on your team enter gifts? Regulary, that is; not as a backup while someone's out of office and not on an ad hoc basis. Trying to get a sense of what volume of gifts "tips the scale" into needing an additional gift entry staffer.

If anyone could share their budget size (especially contributed income) and the number of team members that enter gifts at least once per week, that would be fantastic. Thanks!

    Hi Katie,

    I have two-four people processing gifts.

    1. Processing for individuals takes about 60-80 of one staff members times (the rest devoted to generating Acknowledgements and some research.) Approximatly 12,000 gifts per year.
    2. Processing for Corporate, Foundation, and Government takes about 1/4 of time for the other staff member (the rest being plans management, benefit fulfillment, acknowledgements, and general support for institutional giving.)
    3. Several times a year, I have box office staff process gifts that touch ticketing for various reasons (these gift currently do not affect membership.) Approximately 1,500 gifts per year.
    4. In desperation, I have had interns do some basic processing if their other work meets high standards of attention to details and consistency. Approximately 500 gifts per year.

    I use T-STATS to monitor my number of contributions by month over the past 5 years to help evaluate/plan increased staffing.
