Hoping to pick your expert brains about this. What ways do you track donor's movement from membership level to membership level? Basically we are hoping to track donor's movements up our ladder, and catch anyone who starts to move down.

When I was with Tulsa Ballet, I was the manager of their Barre Society membership group for young professionals. There were three levels of membership which ranged in price from $100 to $1,000 while I was there.
To track their membership movement, I actually used Plans because the group was manageable enough to track that way (while also using the Plans Maintenance to make mass updates as needed). So for each fiscal year of the membership group, I would enter the next level of membership in the Goal amount and use Notes to track the year-over-year movement.
You can also do this through Memberships in the database, but I admittedly have a little bit less experience there because we hadn't really put together a well-established structure before I left to join our consortium staff.
