Are there any organizations that have any issues with pledge payments that come from an unexpected source (corporation, foundation, donor advised fund). At the beginning of each fiscal year our Board of Trustees submit pledges in writing for their annual giving excpectation which are entered into Tess.
However, they do not always indicate where the payment will come from. My understanding is that Tess will not allow a payment in one record (Corporation/Foundation) to be applied toward a pledge that lives in another record (Trustee). This happens frequently enough to where zero'ing out the initial pledge and reentering the gift would be frustrating.
Thanks for any suggestions!
We don't have this particular issue often; however, we don't book any pledge that doesn't have written backup from the donor. To track the verbal pledges, we put the information in Plans using the Recorded field as a verbal field to track the amount the donor said they were going to give us. It doesn't show up in our development reports, and we can run a plan report and see what's been "pledged." You could try something like that until you get the actual gift. It would save you from having to move pledges and gifts around once you receive the money.
