Multiple contributions to the same Fund with different name acknowledgements

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to process multiple contributions to the same Fund in Tess with different program acknowledgements for each contribution? We have some Patrons who like to make multiple donations to the same Fund (eg the Education Program) over a period of time, though who would like the donations to be acknowledged separately (eg Donation 1: 'In memory of Mrs Jane Smith' and Donation 2: 'Mr John Smith').

We currently have memberships set up - though we aren't using them properly (it's on my list to sort out!). When I try to add more than one program acknowledgement name, I receive the following error messag: 'Multiple membership contributions to the same membership organization are not allowed.'

This might be something that is to do with our Custom tables - though I thought I'd throw it out here on the Forum to check (as I've found many of the threads very informative).

If anyone is willing to share a similar experience, or could point me in the direction to reference material on the TN site, I'd be very grateful. My direct contact details are below.

Many thanks,

Sally

  • Hi Sally,

Have you looked at the Match/Credit screen in Contributions?

In this case, I would create a contribution of $2000 and in the Match/Credit screen I would create 2 creditees - Mr John Smith being a creditee of $1000 and Mrs Jane Smith as being the creditee of the other $1000.  Then, on Jane Smiths record, I would create a Program Name of "In Memory of Mrs Jane Smith".

I'm not sure but I suspect that the record for Jane smith would need to be active for this to work - which has it's own implications making it imperitive that her record is alwaays excluded from any mailing, etc.

Does this give you the solution?

    Martin
