Greetings,
Does anyone know of a way to have multiple membership organizations tied to the same campaign? Or does it have to be one to one. I want to creat 2 membership orgs for our individual campaign so we can split it into a lower level and upper level, but they both need to live under that year's individual campaign for reporting and accounting purposes.
Any thougths?
Thanks,
Shannon
Hi Shannon,
One consequence of multiple memberships organizations that you'll want to be careful of is how the new membership will look for someone who upgrades from the lower levels to the upper levels. For example, if my current lower level membership expires July 31, and I renew today in June to a level in the higher organization, I will maintain my current lower-level membership and get a second, active membership in the higher organization. I'll be an active member in both organizations. Additionally, the higher level membership will be coded as "New" (because it's new to that organization) and will have a brand new inception date (because my original inception date is part of the original organization).
If you would rather treat upgrading donors as "Renewed" and never reset their inception dates, you'll want a single membership organization to maintain the continuity of their membership history.
