special characters

Hi! When creating a constituent or other record, what do you recommend for entering special letters/characters like a tilde or accent over a vowel? Is "cut and paste" the only option? For example: Gándara, José, Muñoz, Dalí

Thanks for your help! Sue

  • On Windows, you can enter special characters with what are called "alt codes" — you hold the alt key while typing a special character code on the number pad (not the number row). For example, the ñ character can be typed with alt-164.

If you google for windows alt codes you can find a bunch of cheat sheets that you can print out, or make your own from the most relevant characters. Lots of the symbols that are possible are not going to be relevant, or even storable in the tessitura database collation.
