Contributions

Hello

Im wondering if anyone can help, I would like to be able to add a contribution automatically to every ticket order. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Thanks

Mark

  • You can add a second price map, using the appropriate GL for a contribution, and tag it as a gift rather than ticket price, to a price type. It won't show up in the Contributions screen, it won't trigger membership, and it won't get acknowledged using the standard apparatus. You can, if you need, open the order, return the seat and repurchase it using a different price type, then put the contribution on account to be processed by Development.

Otherwise, I think, it's a manual process entirely to get a contribution into a ticketing order.

  • In the past, I’ve used an order based fee, but as Lucie mentioned, it won’t show up in contribution history…

  • Thanks for your responses, we currently have a £1 contribution which is setup as a fee but this is causing some conflict on our email order confirmation, but i think its something we will have to live with.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this.

  • Mark,

All of our contributions that come in through the web are put On Account and then processed in our Development department.

We automatically add a contribution to every ticket order - right now we do 20% of the total purchase rounded to the nearest dollar.

This is automatically added to the cart when they check out with a bold note letting them know that we have added it and giving them the option to delete or adjust.

This has been fairly successful although we still get the occasional constituent who doesn't notice the donation until after checkout (it is itemized in their confirmation email) and we do have to occasionally refund a few contributions.
