Has anyone dealt with trying to create funds as their own entities? Looking for a way to better track endowed funds as their own entity, like we were able to do in Raiser's Edge. Ideally we'd like to be able to have a record for the fund where can track contributions to the fund and other information (contact details, documentation) so we don't have to keep everything in paper files.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Is it as simple as creating a new entity type for "Fund" and adding relationships to people associated with the fund, then soft crediting the Fund record whenever a contribution is made? I know we can run the Fund Activity Report to see just contributions to a specific fund within a Campaign, but that won't allow us to see all the pertinent details about the fund (creation date, designation, who created it, etc.).
