Promotional memberships?

We are trying to figure out the best way to offer a temporary membership as a promotion, like a bonus add-on, to something like a special event purchase. We don't want to create this as an actual membership in our usual membership organization, but we do want to track initiation/expiration of this bonus membership, as well as report on conversions to true memberships.

I am currently exploring the use of constituency codes to keep track of this bonus expiration, but I'm wondering if others have some experiences with this sort of thing that they'd like to share.

  • We’ve been contemplating creating a separate “membership organization” for situations where we need to give/track a membership where someone would not normally receive one.

By creating a different “membership organization” you can then create separate levels that can be assigned. You can then also pull reports/lists including or excluding those levels as needed.

    Just a thought.
