Knowledge Sharing: Best Practices

Hi Everyone,

I'm new my organization and unfortunately, my predecessor isn't around to train me on Tessitura & how they used Tessitura to manage donations to the theatre. I'm used to the Raiser's Edge and I'm struggling!

I've gone through the Learning Resources a lot, and I'm realizing that the way our data has been entered over the last 5 years isn't ideal.

If anyone has a manual they've created for best practices that I could use it would be very very appreciated!

Thanks so much!

  • Caitrin,

I'll add my voice to the chorus of people saying that we do have some Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documentation in-house at Tulsa Ballet, but much of it might be more specific to our actual operations versus being a more Tess-centric approach.

I completely sympathize with your plight of realizing that multiple years of previous data entry has not gone according to best practices though; that's essentially what I inherited when I started in Tess in 2015, even though I didn't realize it at the time because I was brand-new with no previous CRM experience for nonprofit fundraising.

What kind of SOP/best practices are you looking for as a start to your process of reconciling how things are being done with how they should be done ideally?

    Thank you,

    Brian

    Hi Brian,

Thanks for your message! I'm looking for Best Practices re: donation processing, pulling lists and editing constituent data. Once I have my head around the new system, I'm going to create a little how-to manual for my colleagues (and myself!). Terry sent over a very inspiring document so I'm going to model it on that.
