Hi everyone
We're producing labels for a mailing using 'User Defined Format from a List' and the 'UK Mailing labels' option with a list of our members.
However, one of our constituents has removed Name1 from the membership leaving only Name2 as an active member, so when we produce the labels this constituent record still has both names on the label. (We have changed the membership and attribute to Name2 only.) We presume Tess is using Gen Sal to produce the names on the labels for this to happen.
Has anyone got any idea what we should do so that it only pulls Name2 for the labels or indeed for any future correspondence? Do we need to change the way we use Salutations or perhaps change the way we're pulling labels/letters?

Our process is that if any account names change the gen sal button must be pressed to update the letter salutation. If this is done the report will always pull correct information. Do you want to keep a record of who the name 1 was or could you update your 'Dear:' entry?

It's a bit more tricky than that as both people on the record are still constituents but only one of them is now a member, Name2. So when we update Gen Sal it sill, correctly, has both their names for the record in general but the problem is how to extract only the person who is the member when we're mailing for a membership issue.

What you might want to do is make a Salutation Type = Member Name - when you pull the list thru the User Defined you as for this salutation. If it is not present then the default sal is pulled. You only have to set this type up for those with this situation. The other caution is whether the address being pulled is a label address or not. If Label then salutation has to label too otherwise the system ignores.
