Corporate Memberships

I'm in a bit of bind right now - we're right at year end, and of course, an individual sends us a donation via a corporate cheque.  He intends on attending events, and therefore we need to deduct benefits from his tax receipt.  We haven't had this happen before...

We already have a membership org set up for "corporate donations" with giving levels that differ from our individual giving levels (i.e the gift range "steps" differ).  None of these corporate levels have any benefit amounts set up.  And, I've been told that for transparency sake, I can't simply enter the gift in the Individual Giving Campaign, it has to go into Corporate Giving.

So what is the easiest way for me to deduct benefits for this gift?  Do I need to create a whole new membership org?  Or can I create a level within the corporate org, even if I already have a level with that amount (i.e we have a $5000-9999 level, can I create another $5000-9999 level with a benefit amount)

  • Couple thoughts – Yes you could create a Corporate level but if this a one time thing  I wonder if you might just enter it into the Corporate Giving campaign soft crediting to individual and create both a manual membership record and receipt. Notes can be entered as needed.
