ADD OLD GIFT TO NEW PLEDGE

Last year we received a pledge for $10,000 paid in two parts but rather than enter it as a pledge we just entered it as a gift of $5,000. As we want the pledge to be recorded is there a way for me to create a pledge of $10,000 now and then add that already paid gift as the 1st payment?

  • I would also double check with your finance office. You will need to confirm whether the pledge was put on the books as a receivable or not, and make a notation regarding whatever information you find out. If it was not on the books as a receivable, then Devo will have both payments attributed to one fiscal year, while your finance department may have $5000 in one fiscal year and the other $5000 in the next fiscal year.

These are good things to know for reporting purposes and for future budgeting.

    Thanks,

    Marie

I would think so….you could put the original $5000 on-account and then apply it to the pledge. Make very detailed notes as to what happened.
