Our membership have been set up to start the 1st day of the next month -- this of course means that any new membership entered today has a pending membership and no constituency in the record.
Because of the new price rule features we are thinking about changing the start date to the 1st day of this month. I; ran a couple tests and don't see any major problems with making this adjustment.
Has anyone else encountered any problems switching the membership start date?
Thanks
Starting at the start of the current month might make members feel like they're shortchanged if they expire 12 months after that date—giving them less than a year. Maybe not, though!
In our consortium most memberships start "Today," last for 12 months, and "Always Expire at End of Month," and we were able to switch this behavior mid-year for some of the memberships without any issues.
Starting on the day of gift entry allows their membership to be active immediately and lets them receive their membership constituency, while the checkbox for expiring at the end of the month lets us keep the same expiration behavior we had for memberships that used to have an initiation date for the first of next month.
