I've shared this information in the Conversations area of the TLCC 2016 portal, but I thought I might share the information on the forums as well just to have record here when people move on to next year's portal.
At my portion of the TLCC 2016 presentation session "What Do Our Members Want? You Have the Perks, But Do They Work?", I touched briefly on how we at Tulsa Ballet have been using barcodes on name tags and free smartphone barcode reader software to track our event attendance in Tessitura.

Note that this is most applicable to Special Activity use in Tessitura because Special Activity status can be managed using the pre-cooked Utility. Unfortunately there aren't any default Utility solutions for an Elevated Event, so tracking those won't work as well with the documentation included here.
