Multi-year pledges across campaign boundary

Hi folks

This is a kind of technical question about processing multi-year pledges.

We run on a January-December financial year, and all of our campaigns, seasons etc are on that basis.

But the Australian tax FY is July-June.

We accept 12-month monthly pledges mostly on the July-June schedule, and generate a tax receipt number for the full amount at the end of the donor's financial year. But of course half of that contribution belongs to one ACO FY, and the other half to a different one.

We have previously dealt with this by setting up two different pledges in Tess, one for July-Dec, and one for Jan-June. But of course that makes it a bit messy for generating ack letters for the whole pledge, and for generating a valid single tax receipt number at the year end, which have both involved a bit of manual editing magic, which I suspect is not truly kosher, and certainly undesirable.

I would like to switch to creating a single pledge for the whole July-June period. I think that makes sense from a campaign target POV - the whole amount would be credited to the 2016 campaign, although half of the payment would actually arrive in 2017.

But... by the time the January payment arrives, the Fund would no longer be associated with the campaign on the pledge. It would have been re-attached to the 2017 campaign.

Sooo - the question is - will that break the pledge payment? Or is the fund-campaign association only based on the contribution date of the original pledge, so it would be ok?

Anybody know?

Ken
