Best way to track and report on monthly pledges

Yearly Cash Report should help with this.  It will also let you know credit card vs check billings

Our organization is accepting more and more monthly pledges, but we are struggling on the reporting side. What is the best way to track when pledge money will come in and how many people we have on monthlies?

I've looked at Pledge Receivable Report and Pledge Receivable by Period and they are not helping much with this. Is there another report/method, or am I misusing the reports? 

Any insight would be appreciated - I would like to be able to project contributions, especially when they cross fiscal years.
