Dropdown menus with multi-select function

Hi all,

We'd like to have a single flag on some constituent accounts that has multi-select functionality.

Specifically, if a funder is a prospective donor for 4 different projects, we'd flag the funder as Prospect and the dropdown menu would specify exactly which projects the staff member believes they have an interest/affinity. Then when discussing how to fund a project, we could also pull a list of everyone with that project flag.

Custom fields in plans would be ideal but I understand that they don't have this technical functionality. Is anyone aware of another spot we could store this data with this type of functionality?

The back-up plan is an attribute, but then said funder gets 4 new attributes which is clunky and space-filling.

Thanks in advance for your ideas-

  • One option is to have multiple plans for your 4 selections. The different types will be the projects. This will be more time consuming and will require more planning and business practice decisions.

Option number two would be attributes. This is the easier of the 2 options. You will have multiple entries for these too, but less data entry and info being stored compared to plans.

The ultimate question is how you will report this info to someone. The attribute is simple and one piece of info. The plan can give you the opportunity to store more info about the moves management of the process.

  • Hi Laurel and Marie,

I think the Interests idea is a great one... it even is labeled appropriately for the subject matter. In referencing the funding interest, list builder is the most important tool to identify people. We'll then be pulling plans and other aggregate giving data to facilitate conversation.

    Thank you!
