What are no. issues in Membership Organization setup?

I'm adding a new level to our membership structure, and just noticed a field I've never paid attention to before called "no. issues" I'm having a hard time finding documentation of this online -- can anyone enlighten me on what this field is and what it does?

    My recollection from when we implemented is that it the Met originally used it for their magazine premium in some way. You can basically ignore it, or repurpose it for something else.
