constituent profile for board sub dollars

Every year we review how well our board has performed over the past few years—especially those who are up for re-election.   This includes evaluating the amount they donate, how much in dollars they purchase in subscriptions, etc.  We ran the Constituent Profile report, and it was brought to my attention that the subscription dollars are not reflecting what a board member actually spent.  I know that subscription information is pulling from the History tables, so when someone exchanges out of their normal subscription concert weekend to another weekend, this exchange takes the money out of the total subscription dollars in the sub history table.  This happens frequently.  I'm wondering how other organization's development departments, especially symphonies, are reporting on the full dollars a board member had spent on subs when it is time to review their commitment.  Do others use custom reports?  Or an output set?  Thanks.
