Ideas for Tracking and Reporting on Board give/get

Hello!

I am searching for ideas/ways to track board members give/get contributions in Tessitura.

Does anyone have a good system in place or a great idea for this type of situation? Our board members have a commitment to raise a certain amount of money for us either by giving it or getting it donated by other individuals, corporations or foundations.  We have thrown around several ideas on how to track these gifts that are "credited" toward each board members total commitment amount WITHOUT using soft credits. (we do not want to use soft-credits for this).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Thank you!!

I haven't tried this specifically, but are you using Plans? Maybe you could have one plan per ask your board members make. Put the board member as a worker on the plan as "Board Solicitor" or something. Then you could track the total received amount by plan worker? That could work so long as you were diligent about making sure your contributions get linked to plans when they're entered.

We don't do give/get but we do track our board solicitors, so we could in theory track how much each board member has brought in. Like I say, I haven't tried it--just an idea!

  • Matthew,

    Thank you for responding!

Yes, we just started using plans and actually another organization I have been talking to is setting up a model like the one you described.

It seems like it could work really well.

    Thanks again!

  • We are using Plans to do this. It's helped immensely! Just as Matthew suggested, we use a specific Solicitor type.

The trouble we ran into is that while it's really easy to pull each Board Member's portfolio individually, it is not as easy to pull all of the Board Members portfolios at once. You can get there using the Plan Summary report, but it takes some manipulation in excel to get it in a format that works well for us. That being said, it still works much better for us than anything we've done in the past.
