Hi!
Does anyone out there enter family foundation gifts in the household/individual record and soft credit to the family foundation record instead of the other way around? I heard someone at the conference mention that they did this. We currently enter in the family foundation record and soft credit to the individual/household. This makes giving reports, program book lists, and tax statements difficult as I have to manually match them up with the household/individual record to get total giving. But, I want to see if there are pitfalls that I am not thinking of in having everything in one account with contributions soft credited to the family foundation when they come from that entity.
Thank you!

We enter on the HH/individual account and soft credit the foundation/donor advised fund. Last year we tried the reverse and it made reporting horrendous from the recommending donor perspective as well as manually matching from the office management perspective
.
A donor centered program works as best as possible from a donor perspective. Donors consider the foundation/DAF contribution as part of their personal total giving profile. We can serve the donor’s interest by entering the gift on their record, while serving the foundation/DAF/ Accountant interest by having the foundation/DAF contributions recorded as such.
Does anyone have a report they can run on “Soft Credits?” This would allow for reporting on the soft credits that would add an additional convenience for this.
