Tracking "Hearsay" Ticket History

We are beginning to have many more personal conversations with our major donors/prospects than ever before. Our senior staff is frustrated that they can look at an account and see no ticket history with us, but then when talking with a donor/prospect hear them rant and rave about how great our latest show was. They are really pushing to capture this information.

The obvious cause of this is that this VIP is not the one who acquired tickets, but they came as a guest of some other account. Just curious if anyone tracks this information and how?

My proposal is just to create a specific note type to list all of their "show history" that donors/prospects have said they have seen, but doesn't appear on their account in ticket history. Seems much less messy that creating an activity, fake performances, etc. Thoughts?
