I'm curious for any/all devo people who focus on direct mailings and other solicitation avenues. Do you have a cap/time range on when you source a gift to a direct mailing or other form of solicitation?
For example, if I sent a direct mailing out in April and suddenly in December I receive a gift in the mail with the response envelope that we provided for the April mailing, does it really make sense to source that gift to the mailing? It isn't necessarily unsolicited but the donor also may not be responding to that mailing. More than likely, the form came across their desk and they happen to mail in a check. We have an "Indirect Solicitation" source, but I'm wondering if anyone out there gets even more specific with these types of gifts.
