Globally add research records?

Hi! Does anyone know if there is a way to globally add Research Records? We are doing some mass screening and I want to track that it's been done without having to add each one separately.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi Julia!  At City Center we have done some basic version of this, creating an attribute we needed for the research information we were interested in and using the Manage Attributes utility to insert this attribute on each record.

We also created a custom Manage Research utility to add a Research -> Research note so we know when this research took place.  If that fits in with what you're doing we might be able to share it.

I'm sure other people out there are working with more data and importing more, though.  I'd love to know how they handle it!

Thanks for the quick response Mike! I am hoping for the info to go into the Research Record radio button section on the Research tab so we can use the Research Listing report to track/pull reports on who has been most recently researched and suppress from new screenings. Whew, that was a lot of "research"!

Is there a reason you use the Research notes versus the research record screen to track when it's been done? Has it made the reporting/pulling of these groups easier?

Aside from making sure we are not just screening the same people over and over again, at the end of the day I'd like to be able to report on "we screened X number of people in this group and of them X became prospects and ultimately x made gifts".  Right now I'm trying to figure out the best way to get there!

    Many thanks!

We do use Research -> Research for this information, not Research -> Notes so what you're thinking of matches up.  We haven't used it for much reporting, but we have used it to determine things like "how many people did we screen in this period of time?"

We do create an attribute for each person we screen for "Giving Capacity" so that is what we primarily use to prevent screening the same constituents twice.  Everyone screened gets this attribute, even if they return no capacity rating.

Again, this all depends on the information you're looking to capture, but what you've said so far sounds good.
