We are working on our first campaign of entering gift donations and assigning memberships since our conversion. So the use of these membership levels are still a bit confusing to us. Our basic donation campaigns are dated for the first of the year to the end of the year (January to December), but the actual membership organizations run from the start of our season ticket calendar which would be June to May.
We are looking into updating the membership cycle by changing the initiation date for the membership organization and then running the membership update utility. Our hope is that this will inactivate all the memberships associated to the old campaign and set any pending memberships to active for the current campaign. But as I am doing some test runs in TEST, I see that there are a decent number of memberships for the current campaign that were set with the initiation and expiration dates for the last campaign, so they would get expired through this utility instead of activated. I can access the database myself and update them through the membership table most likely, but I am just wondering why some of the donations entered in the past few months were given initiation dates from last summer, some were given the start of this year as the date and some were given this upcoming summer as their initiation date. If anyone has any insight it would be appreciated.
