Recurrent contributions

Dear colleagues,

I am trying to identify a mechanism in Tessitura whereby I can set up a record of recurrent contributions (that at times attract unusual or irregular payment schedules).  To the best of my investigations to date via the system and this network, the pledge application would best service my needs, however in this specific circumstance I do not have an end date for these gifts (so I cannot establish a payment 'period' or 'pledge total' for the gift), nor do I wish to set up automatic payments on these.

I'm stumped as to how I can have this record of recurrent giving in Tessitura.  Any assistance you could provide, or a direction you could point me in, would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Phil

  • This utility has been available for several years.

SF Ballet uses it and is on V11.  They also do sustaining gifts on the web.  They put the first installment on account and have a custom table that tells them what payment schedule has been selected – annual, monthly, quarterly, etc.  Then there is a nightly utility that runs and creates pledges according to the schedule and uses the funds on account to make the first payment.

Then the auto renewal utility is scheduled regularly to pick any sustainer that is within their renewal period to be automatically renewed/scheduled for the following year.

Is this capability new to version 12?  I don’t believe this set-up works in version 11 so will we all need to wait for our final conversion during this year to set this up?

    Hi Tony,

Once your pledges are set up, you can use the Membership Auto Renewal utility that will renew your memberships and create new pledges for the following year with the same schedule.  It works for pledges already set up with credit card or direct debit billing.  The documentation for it is here:  http://www.tessituranetwork.com/Help_System_v121/Content/Memberships/Membership%20Auto%20Renewal.htm

    Good luck,

    Hi Phil,

I'm searching through these forums for a similar thing. We're thinking about starting a monthly giving program, so I'm researching the logistics. So far it seems most organizations are processing it the same way of which I thought - building pledges for each campaign year-by-year. The key issue is permanence. With human error and inevitable turnover, I was hoping this could be an automated thing. I guess it will just have to rely on solid documentation.

Just curious, with the irregular payment schedules you were referencing, were you able to implement something? Would you be able to share the parameters of your program and solutions you've come up with over the last few months?

    Thank you,

    Tony Dixon ;})
