Custom Data In Plans

Hallo all,

We're looking to add custom data into our Plans screen and I was wondering what other organisations have found useful to put in there? Do you generally use freetext or dropdown fields?

Since our corporate/trust/capital and individual teams use Plans differently, I'm especially wondering what all-encompassing fields you use?

Thanks!

  • Hi Victoria,

Here are the custom fields we are using at Seattle Opera:

    Custom Fields:

    • Letter Segment - used for solicitation letter versions, options update periodically throughout the year based on segmentation strategy.
    • Monthly Ask - Pre-populated based on ask level, but broken down into appropriate monthly amount (i.e. $100 ask gets $10 a monthly ask).
    • Adjusted Ask - the amount used in a single appeal to get them to their overall ask for the year. Calculated in stored procedure based on Plan Ask minus Plan Cont Total. If we want them to get to $1,000 (Ask) and they have already giving $500 (Cont Total), the adjusted ask is $500.
    • Sub Renewal Segment - used for subrenewal solicitations only
    • Online Sol Disabled - if this is selected, they will not receive a custom solicitation in the shopping cart.
    • Forecast Total - this is the total amount expected from the donor for the campaign of the plan.

    Hope that helps!

  • Hi Rob,

I confess to some curiosity regarding the custom checkout solicitation process - was this difficult to set up? How do you implement the 'custom' side of you checkout ask?

Would love any thoughts you're willing to share!

    Best,

    Claire

  • This is a customization that we've built twice now. First on our old website in 2011 in an entirely custom format. Most recently in 2015 we did a comprehensive web rebuild and moved our ecommerce over to TNEW. This customization was rebuilt for us and was fairly cost effective. If you are a TNEW client I recommend reaching out to their team. They've done similar work for a number of organizations and can give you a number of ideas beyond just what Seattle Opera has done as well as a formal cost estimate.
