Has anybody customized the Pledge Balance Report so that you can get the exact pledge balances as of a specific date in the past? This would help me with some financial reconciliations…

I have it set up as an automatic report that is delivered really early on the first of every month. We use that for our month end pledge reconciliations. This has saved us from lots of manual work.

Has anyone figured out an "as of" date for the pledges by period report?
Thank you

As the author of the original response to this question, I would love to be told that v.11 has such a report that does not need to be calculated . . . .

It’s my understanding that you can’t get a report that really shows the balance back in time. Rather, what happens is that the Current Balance shown is always the true current balance. However, you can calculate backwards by using the Paid After Current Period column.
For example, you want balances as of June 30 but you are running the report today. Run the Pledge Receivable by Period and use the following parameters:
Periods: Months
Calc. Date: 6/30/09
Pledge Amt $1 - $999,999,999 (would that we all had pledges that large!)
Pledge Bal. $0 - $999,999,999
Contr. Dates whatever you want – current fiscal year or, for longer campaigns, the date the campaign began
Funds as appropriate
Mode I like Detail by Pledge
This report will give you a list of ALL pledges made during the Contribution Dates you selected. (If you use a Pledge Balance of $1 or more, you will get only the pledges that have a balance as of the date you run the report, not as of 6/30).
The column headings refer to Current Period, and remember that you have defined the Current Period to be the month of June 2009 (Period = Months and Calc. Date = 6/30/09). So the first four columns show the amount Pledged, the money received Prior to Current Period (i.e., before June), the money received in the Current Period (June), the money received After Current Period (since June), and the Current Balance. So, to get the balance as of June 30 you take the Current Balance and add back in the money received After Current Period.
This is actually a cool report since you can define what you want for periods. I run this every month to reconcile with our accounting dept on receivables, and at the end of the year I run a version where I define the Period to be Fiscal Year and it’s a nice summary of the year’s activities.
Hope this is helpful.

It didn’t seem to be working for me. It could be because most of the pledges we’re looking at were converted into the system, so the dates could be a little wonky. Does this report work that way for most others (i.e., the transaction start and end dates allow you to get a pledge balance snapshot back in time)?

The Pledge Balance Detail report has parameters for transaction start and end date (if you use the 'Next' button to go to the next group of parameters). Does this not give you a historical snapshot of your pledge balances as of that end date?
