pledge installments

If you have the first payment in hand, enter the first payment in the Payment Details screen, then fill out the pledge payment schedule as normal with today as the first payment. When the schedule populates, then it will autofill the first payment. Hope this helps.

I am setting up pledges with 12 installments with an option to pay 1st installment "now".  Do I simply set up new batch with pledged, close said batch and then start a new batch with the 1st installment payment?  Is there an easier way to go about doing this?
