Special Tribute Webpage

Hi All,

I am hoping another organization has done this before.  We have a couple who are getting married and want to set up a "gift registry" to our organization.  Instead of gifts, they want their guests to give a donation to our organization, and would like us to set up a special page on our website for this that they can send the link to their guests.  We don't want to put it out to the general public, so we don't want to put it on our general contribution page.  Plus, they want to set up specific levels ($50, $100, etc.) that have special things they are funding associated with them (For example, $50 buys a dancer's shoes).  We think that would be best set up as a button selection instead of just fill in the amount.  I don't think T-New will allow us to do this on the contributions page.  Plus, I'm not sure we can set up another contributions page.  Does anyone know?

So, that leads us to setting up an event through ticketing, which seems like the perfect solution as we can do the button selection and make it more personalized with pictures.  And each event is a separate page in the ticketing portion, whereas in contributions, it is all on one page with a drop down menu.  The drawback is an automatic email is sent out with ticketing information, which could be confusing to the donor.  Does anyone know if the automatic emails can be turned off for one event, while still being sent for other ticket purchases?  We will also have to move the money from the ticketing event to on account and then into the tribute fund in contributions.

Has anybody dealt with this before?  Any advice?

Thanks,

  • Hi Stacey!

Maybe instead of preventing the email from going out, you could take advantage of putting dynamic text in the system table LTR_TNEW_DYN_EMAIL_CONTENT. There you could have special text thanking them and mentioning that the email is more of a receipt than a ticket order. We've used it similarly for Elevated Events that we sell online via ticketing, then move money over after (much like you're mentioning for this special case).

    Hope that helps!
