Facility Preparedness

Hello!

Here at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine we are discussing preparing our Facility for reopening (whenever that may be) and what we can do to ensure our audiences feel comfortable after the surge of this pandemic has passed.  Some ideas floated out there were to invest in a fogger machine to kill germs (by fogging the building after each performance), staff wearing gloves and masks, and enforcing 6 feet of social distance throughout the property.  Unfortunately, cost and realistic ability to carry out these plans is a factor: fogger machines are expensive to rent or purchase (as are their supplies); our lobby is incredibly small when compared to our audience size, which makes keeping 6 feet of social distance an issue; we cannot operate our historic 600+ seat auditorium with 6 feet of separation unless we drop our occupancy down to around 15%/performance.

We also discussed sanitizing of hearing impaired equipment, door knobs and bathrooms, as well as how tickets would be handled (can we wear gloves while preparing & distributing will call? As the Box Office Manager I can see this adding time - and possibly frustration - to will call prep).

All this is to say that I'm looking for input from you!  What are your organizations plans to ensure your audiences are comfortable and safe, upon reopening?  What do you plan to alter or change that your audiences are used to seeing/having/experiencing and how will you prepare them for this change?  Any insight you can provide or suggestions you have are welcome!

Thank you so much,

    Hi Morgan,

I'm new to this forum and to Tessitura in general, but I was referred by one of my institution's power users. As Training Manager, I have been tasked with connecting with industry partners to consider how each staff member, department and area of our museum will function as we open in a post-COVID world. I would love to continue this discussion on this forum or off-line.
