We normally do ticket donations as "donate for resale," then manually generate and send out a thank you/tax letter to patrons. In this manner, the income stays with the production, and is never reflected as an actual donation.
I'm not sure this is the best policy to continue with the current situation and the increased qty that we expect to see (having cancelled our two current production runs, and considering postponing or cancelling our final of the season).
Any thoughts as to whether financially this "donated" ticket income should be removed from the productions and officially transferred to contributed income?
TIA and May the Odds be Ever in Your Favor,
Keri
Hi Keri, I think the issue is that income is not easily tracked as the functionality only tracks the following income made from its resale. I may be wrong? Do you have an easy way to report on that?
Also is Gift Aid a factor for you in the US?
We are in the UK and were going to return tickets and adjust the contribution value but the Gift Aid declarations don't allow this and through up error messages.
Best wishes, Chris
Hi Chris,
The Donated Seats report tracks both - it selects all Donated for Resale sub line items for performances and it counts the number of donated seats and the value of the donated seat (i.e. the value of the original sale). If the seat was sold after being donated, it is counted in the seat and the value of the resale are counted in the Resale category.
Take care, Charlotte
