UK Tessitura Conference 2010 - Ideas?

Hello all

It was lovely to see lots of you at The Sage Gateshead for this year's conference. As mentioned on the day, this post is designed to start a discussion about the possibilities for the 2010 conference. Here are the main aims:

1 To collect feedback about what kind of format might work for next year's conference - possibly something similar to this year with a 1 day format, but with more defined areas of focus to be planned by the people who know those topics best?

2 To ask for a volunteer or volunteers to collate this feedback and start the planning process for next year (not necessarily taking on the whole conference or committing their organisation to host)

3 To suggest that planning for next year could involve a committee with UK members sharing the responsibility for organising the conference

I am now passing the baton to the UK group to take it from here!

Katie.

  • Hi Katie,

Thanks for organising the conference this year, it was really good.

So I’m happy to be part of some sort of UK planning team for next year, I think that’s a really good idea.

Regarding the format I though this years worked rather well in the areas where we had presentations. The discussion element, which Nick and I tried, didn’t go too well; my thinking is that there were too many people in the room, all with different levels of experience. Perhaps we could split such sessions out and put a cap on the number of participants?

There were rather a lot of people there, does anyone see a benefit in extending the conference beyond one day?

    Gary

I like the idea of a planning committee, and am happy to be a part of that. I think we could get away with extending the conference, too- there were a lot of people who travelled up the night before, and by extending the conference (by even half a day), it would allow us the time to do break outs by experience level.

    Cheers,

    Kathleen

Royal & Derngate invites you to our Young America season this autumn. Beyond the Horizon by Eugene O’Neill, arguably the first modern American tragedy, is now playing in rep with Spring Storm by Tennessee Williams- a European Premiere and another first for Northampton. The Young America season ends Sat 14 November. Plus- don’t wait for the rush; book your Christmas show early and then relax! HONK! The Ugly Duckling Musical is the perfect alternative to panto and starts on the Royal stage from Tue 1 December. But, if it’s pantomime you want then Northampton’s biggest and best panto is undoubtedly Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, now there’s something your magic mirror can’t deny! Snow White starts Fri 11 December.

To book call the Box Office on 01604 624811 or select your seat online at www.royalandderngate.co.uk
