Paypal

Hi everyone

Has anyone looked into using Paypal as a payment method on their website at all?

We have been having a discussion about making it easier for people to purchase through our ticketing path and how many transactions are abandoned because people can't be bothered to go and get their payment card.

Any thoughts welcome

Thanks

Nicola

  • We haven’t looked into PayPal but we have implemented an Amazon style One-Click ordering to try to combat that.  Basically the first time a customer purchases they have the option of retaining their card details.  If they choose to do so they can book tickets pretty much straight away the next time they visit so it’s perfect for repeat customers.  And in our implementation it’s all being hosted by TNSi our payment provider so we aren’t in scope of PCI.

  • Hi Nicola,

We are in the process of testing PayPal as a payment method, but haven’t gone live yet.  If you use Sage Pay on your website, you can add PayPal as an additional payment method that links into Sage Pay.  I can let you know more once we’re live.

    Thanks,
    Rathi

I think it’s definitely worth discussing but for us it would be more relevant for our web and digital team.

We could always send spies along to the Finance session of course!

  • We have looked in to it and had a meeting with PayPal, but we haven’t gone any further as yet. I know that TNS have it as an option that can be added to the hosted forms too.

  • Hi Laura

That would be great if it could be added as a topic, as Brooke says it will pop up with lots of other departments including ticketing and web/IT but a finance discussion is a good starting point.

    Thanks

    Nicola

  • Thanks Caryl

I'm having discussions with TNS about some other bits and pieces so might throw that in there when they come back to me and find out a bit more.

    Nicola

  • Hi Simon

Does the customer still need to put their CVV code in or does it work like Paypal?

    Thanks

    Nicola

  • All

I have looked at it, issue I have is the commission they are not quoting as low as our credit card commission. I think making it easier for our customer to pay is by any means is really important in this world but we need to get the costs right to us it will erode our margins. I am waiting on a new quote from PayPal happy to share if you guys tell me what they are quoting you.

    Best
