TNEW gift certificate email issue

I posted this in the IT/Admin forum yesterday but I thought I should post it here too just in case you guys have encountered this before.

I'm hoping someone here can help me figure out why a Gift Certificate email I have keeps sending, every minute, until midnight. Thankfully this is in our Test environment.

Here's the full story:
We have a special Black Friday offer coming up when people buy a Gift Certificate online. As such I updated some of the text in our General Order Confirmation template in the section for Gift Certificate confirmations, and I updated the text in LTR_TNEW_EMAIL_SETTINGS. We also have a template for the Gift Certificate that gets sent to the recipient. The Gift Certificate email is the one that won't stop sending even though I haven't touched anything in that template. Again, this Gift Certificate email sends every minute after I make the purchase online, and they don't stop until midnight. 

ES suggested I check my Email Queue, the Email Trigger, making another template, or check the existing template. I don't know where to start with the first three of those suggestions and I've come up a little short in my search of documentation and forums. The best I could do for "check the existing template" was to just take out what I added but it made no difference. 

We haven't heard of any issues with this function in Live so it could just be something funky in our Test environment, but I don't want to leave it to chance.


The offer is supposed to go Live Friday, and with it being a holiday week (i.e. lots of people out of office) so I thought I should try posting here in case someone out there knows what's going on, or where documentation for this stuff is, or how to walk me through in layperson terms.
